Butterfly Inserts in Walnut

Butterfly inserts are used to  prevent a crack from becoming larger and look great doing it!  We can add inserts to any slab to give it that very custom look.

Beautiful Live Edge Walnut Table

We are very excited to reveal our latest walnut table.

It's a 5ft x 32" table that's 30" high. Perfect for a dining room table or conference room. We used extremely durable Waterlox varnish that brings out the incredible beauty of the grain. It has a live edge and modern hairpin legs in a hammered black finish. The table is currently for sale, listed at $825.00. If you are interested, please e-mail Kraig at skikraig1@gmail.com

Welcome to Angry Beaver Sawmill

We are Kraig and Rae Whalen, a husband and wife woodworking team. Welcome to our website. What started as a hobby is now growing into an exciting business.

In 2013 a devastating tornado destroyed part of Coal City Illinois. A good friend of ours had two large walnut trees taken down by the storm. It would have been a shame to have them cut up for firewood. At the time I had been looking into purchasing a Wood Mizer sawmill, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity.

Custom wood milling.

The Wood Mizer makes quick work of even hard woods.

The mill is mounted onto a trailer for easy on-site milling.

Beautiful walnut slabs.

The first run with the wood mill produced some amazing slabs. So we made a coffee table.

Rustic live edge walnut coffee table.

Pretty soon we had friends asking us to make them one. And then another who was a woodworker that wanted some slabs to make furniture of his own. Now, we keep busy milling the trees, drying the wood and selling the raw material along with rustic furniture.
